A group of people living in various parts of Europe who shared a common culture and language. They first settled in the Upper Danube region around the 13th century BC, and then spread into Gaul, North Italy, parts of Spain, and the British Isles. The Celtic dialects have survived in Wales, Brittany and Ireland.
